Meet Sugar
Sugar is a 6 year old rescued Greyhound
She came to live with us in May of 2005. At that time she was like a
small child and had to learn everything. She didn't know stairs,doors,windows, or mirrors. It was like watching a bud start to blossom. She has really added to our lives.
People that don't know about Rescued Greyhounds, don't know what they are missing. They come from such a violent life and yet they are the most docile and gentle dogs you could ever find. Even though people were responsible for their violent past, they still LOVE people.
People often ask about exercise and running.. Actually, they are not that crazy about running anymore. They are retired after all, and so they like to just lay around and sleep. They are called 45 MPH couch potatoes or as I like to say a speed bump. Sugar likes to lay in the middle of the floor and let you step over her. They are never off leash,however, unless you have a fenced yard. A rabbit or other animal could catch their fancy and they are off,as I said 45MPH but only for short distances. However, they do not have the necessary sense of smell and would not be able to find their way home. Not knowing fear or cars, they could easily be run over.
